What is a Commercial Energy Storage System?

A commercial and industrial energy storage system, C&I BESS, is a battery energy storage system built for the electrical realities of a business site rather than a home. A residential system cannot simply be scaled up: C&I storage runs three-phase power, operates at higher DC voltages (up to 1000 V compared with roughly 600 V for residential systems), uses industrial-grade components and fire suppression, and carries the UL 9540 certification that most authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) will expect to see before they sign off.
