Overview
A private landowner in rural Alabama set out to build a fully off-grid estate designed to support a residence, workshop, and future high-power applications.
With no utility access across a 200+ acre property, the system needed to deliver reliable power today while remaining flexible for future expansion and unknown load requirements.
Challenge
This project went beyond a typical off-grid residential system. Key challenges included:
- Supporting high electrical loads, including large equipment
- Designing without fully defined future power requirements
- Managing a large solar array with excess generation
- Delivering reliable power across a large rural site
Solution
A high-capacity hybrid microgrid was deployed, centered around a pre-engineered Luna Vault energy hub integrating solar, battery storage, and inverters into a single system.
Designed with a battery-first architecture, all solar production is routed into storage, creating a stable and scalable energy platform.
